Hi everyone!
My name is Jason Walker. Welcome to my little corner of the World Wide Web!
I am a certified English teacher in the State of Texas. and am currently on faculty teaching Composition I, Composition II, and World Literature I at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas. I am also in the midst of coursework pursuing a PhD in Literature at the University of Texas at Dallas.
I started this blog about 10 years ago as a way to document my struggles with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, panic attacks, and depression. Recently, after having a relapse that has sidelined me from teaching, I decided to re-double my efforts and refocus the blog back to that topic.
My goad here is to write truthfully and transparently about my struggles with anxiety and depression; about what works and what doesn’t; and to offer encouragement to folks like me (especially educators) who suffer from these debilitating conditions.
I’m not a physician or a certified counselor. I’m just an ordinary guy who has been to hell and back (and back again) with anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. My hope is that, together, you and I can figure out a way through this journey we call life–that we can lift each other up, offer support, encouragement, a shoulder to lean on, and maybe even a laugh or two along the way.
You can read a little about my personal struggle with anxiety, panic attacks, and depression by clicking here. And, if you’d like to read more, just click on my name in the header.
I will be posting at least once a week. Hopefully you will follow the blog, read the posts, and take a little time to like, comment, and share them with your friends and family. Ask questions. Express opinions. Use that comment box to get a conversation going. When we talk to one another, we don’t feel nearly as alone in the world.
So, thanks again for visiting! I hope you enjoy what you read, and that you’ll follow and come back again. If you have any questions, feel free to email me using the contact form below.
